Operating Room/Surgery Registered Nurse (RN)

This role is focused on providing competent nursing care in an Operating Room/Surgery environment, emphasizing independence and awareness of all relevant aspects of clinical situations. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for delivering both routine and complex care while continuing to develop expertise in managing the complexities of clinical nursing.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations as outlined in applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Employ the nursing process—including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—to provide effective nursing care to assigned patients.
• Address the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families, aligning care with their individual levels of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments as per established protocols; monitor patients for side effects and the effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided in accordance with standard practices.
• Assess educational needs and provide relevant information to patients, families, and caregivers, while identifying areas of concern and available resources.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related nursing specialty required.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
• ACLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
• PALS certification required (American Heart Association only).
• Current RN License in the state of Texas or an applicable compact state.

Work Schedule

Available shifts include 10AM to 10PM, with flexibility for alternative options such as 11AM to 11PM or 12PM to 12AM. Both 4x10s and 3x12s schedules may be available.
