Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in providing high-quality surgical care within a dynamic, Magnet-designated department. This position requires a commitment to excellence and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Information

• Schedule: 3x12-hour days (06:30 AM - 07:00 PM)
• On-call Requirement: Yes, up to four call shifts every four weeks
• Weekend Requirement: Up to one working weekend shift every four weeks
• Holiday Requirement: Must work at least one holiday period during employment

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients undergoing surgical procedures in the Operating Room.
• Assist with both scrubbing and circulating duties during various surgical specialties, including Trauma, Transplant, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics.
• Work collaboratively within a team of nurses and surgical technologists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Be prepared to float within scope to meet facility needs.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an Operating Room setting strongly preferred; first-timers accepted.
• Licensure: Must hold a valid South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN license.
• Certifications: BLS required; Radiation Badge (provided by agency) required.
• Trauma Experience: Experience in a Level 1 trauma center preferred.
• Skills: Scrub experience is strongly preferred.

Miscellaneous Information

• Open to accommodating block schedules upon manager's approval and based on unit needs.
• Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• All requests for time off must be included at the time of submission for approval based on facility needs.
• Guaranteed Hours: Facility reserves the right to call off one shift every two weeks.

This role is set within a bustling, state-of-the-art operating room that handles various surgical disciplines. The hospital operates 21 OR suites and functions as an academic trauma center dedicated to providing advanced care and technology services to the community.

Additional Information

Please note that during hurricane season (June to November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. Consider this when confirming a new or extended assignment.

Charting System

Charting is conducted using the EPIC system.

Parking is managed through a designated office with a registration fee, allowing use of the facility's parking garage. Additional fees may be incurred for off-site parking.
