Operating Room Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Operating Room Nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for patient care in the operating room. As a vital member of the surgical team, the RN collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technicians, and other personnel to deliver high-quality patient care in accordance with regulatory standards, physician orders, and hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Manage the timeliness and efficiency of surgical cases.
• Communicate effectively with patients' families and provide updates as needed.
• Update and maintain physician preference cards accurately.
• Assist surgeons by scrubbing in and providing support during surgical procedures.
• Supervise other personnel in the delivery of patient care within the operating room.

Call Requirements

The position includes call responsibilities, which consist of:

• Three first calls
• Three second calls
• One weekend call every six weeks

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Operating Room RN is required.
• Experience in robotics, orthopedics, general surgery, and obstetrics and gynecology is necessary.
• C-section experience is required.
