Job Summary
YKHC is seeking an experienced PACU/OR Registered Nurse to provide exceptional perioperative nursing care for patients of all ages, from newborns to geriatrics. The RN will deliver comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care while collaborating with the surgical team to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Active Alaska RN License in good standing
- Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- 1–2 years of OR/PACU experience required
- Current BLS & ACLS
- PALS preferred
- National Certification in Surgery/PACU preferred
- Knowledge of AORN Standards required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout the surgical process (Pre-Op, Intra-Op, and PACU).
- Perform patient assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Administer medications, treatments, and patient education.
- Monitor patient recovery and respond to changes in condition.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Supervise Administrative Assistants, Schedulers, and CSR Techs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow evidence-based practice.
Skills & Experience
- Strong perioperative and PACU nursing skills.
- Knowledge of AORN standards and surgical procedures.
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, and patient assessment skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Experience with cardiac monitors and other perioperative equipment.
