    Key Responsibilities
    • Assess and respond to the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients through observation and interaction; serve as a patient advocate throughout the surgical experience.
    • Transcribe and implement physician orders accurately and in a timely manner; admit patients to the surgical center efficiently and complete thorough review of patient records to ensure all pre-operative requirements are met.
    • Document patient information in the clinical record via computer with accuracy and timeliness, ensuring compliance with correct surgical procedures and site-marking protocols.
    • Provide post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) nursing when assigned, including airway maintenance, vital sign monitoring, pain management, and evaluation of patients against discharge criteria to progress to Phase 2.
    • Work in pain management and eye laser procedure rooms as assigned; assist with nerve blocks and maintain familiarity with anesthesia supplies, crash cart, MH cart, and emergency medications.
    • Provide patient and family education, coordinate care communications across the care team, and participate in committee meetings to support continuous improvement.
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Pennsylvania.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of diagnostic measures including laboratory values, radiology, and EKG interpretation.
    • Proficiency in IV therapy and perioperative nursing skills and clinical judgment.
    • Ability to accurately transcribe and implement physician orders in a fast-paced surgical environment.
    • Competency in electronic clinical documentation systems.
    • Familiarity with patient transfer processes and procedures to a higher level of care when required.
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior experience in an outpatient surgery center or perioperative setting.
    • Experience providing PACU nursing care, including post-anesthesia assessment and pain management.
    • Familiarity with float nurse responsibilities, including coordinating staff flow and coverage across multiple care areas.
