    RN First Assistant – Operating Room (OR)

    Location

    Springfield, OR | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Days, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM | OB Call Rotation (One Week On / One Week Off)

    Key Responsibilities
    • Function as a First Assistant in the operating room under the direct supervision of surgeons, performing tasks such as suturing, providing exposure, and controlling bleeding
    • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR technicians, and other surgical team members to deliver patient care in accordance with State Nurse Practice Act, AORN standards, and regulatory guidelines
    • Provide first assist support for OB-GYN procedures including C-sections and robotic surgery, as well as general surgery including robotics
    • Participate in OB call coverage on a rotating basis (one week on, one week off), with a focus on supporting overnight surgical needs
    • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and physician orders throughout all phases of surgical care
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Oregon RN License
    • Successful completion of an RNFA program meeting AORN standards
    • RNFA credentialing through either the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA)
    • Placement on the Oregon RNFA Registry
    • Minimum of 2 years of RNFA experience
    • Prior travel nursing experience required; local candidates will not be considered for this position
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Strong background in OB-GYN surgery, including C-sections and robotic-assisted procedures
    • Experience in general surgery, including robotic surgery
    • Comfort with on-call responsibilities, particularly overnight coverage in a surgical setting
