Travel Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR) Circulator | 8hr Evenings

Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM | On-site | Option for expected 48 hours/week available
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the circulating nurse throughout the intraoperative phase, ensuring patient safety, advocacy, and adherence to sterile technique standards across a diverse surgical caseload including General Surgery, Orthopedics, GYN, Robotics, Urology, Hand Surgery, and Podiatry
- Perform patient assessments, coordinate surgical case preparation, and manage equipment and supply needs to support efficient OR workflow
- Maintain accurate perioperative documentation, handle surgical specimens, and oversee medication administration in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
- Coordinate multidisciplinary team activities, collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, first assistants, and ancillary staff
- Anticipate procedural needs, respond to changing patient conditions, and adapt to the complexity and variety of surgical cases within a Level III Trauma facility
- Participate in on-call rotation shared among OR RNs; expected average of approximately 7 call shifts per 6-week period — weekday call runs 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM, weekend call consists of 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — valid and in good standing
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2+ years of OR circulating experience
- Hands-on experience in General Surgery, Orthopedics, OBGYN, Robotics, Urology, Hand Surgery, and Podiatry required
- Fingerprinting is required for all travelers working in New Mexico — submitting agency must be registered with the State of New Mexico, as the fingerprint process may take several weeks
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems, specifically Medhost and PICIS
- Experience working in a Level III Trauma or high-acuity surgical environment
- Strong adaptability and clinical judgment when managing complex, high-volume surgical caseloads
