Travel Nurse RN - Operating Room in Des Moines, IA

Provide direct intraoperative nursing care at a 1:1 patient ratio across multiple surgical service lines including cardiac/peripheral vascular, neurology, orthopedic trauma, robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, and transplants. Operate and assist with specialized surgical equipment including da Vinci robotic systems, Stealth neuro-navigation technology, and Synthes/Stryker orthopedic instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform circulating and/or scrub roles across a high-volume operating room environment averaging 35–50 cases per day with turnover expectations under 20 minutes
• Provide direct intraoperative nursing care at a 1:1 patient ratio across multiple surgical service lines including cardiac/peripheral vascular, neurology, orthopedic trauma, robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, and transplants
• Operate and assist with specialized surgical equipment including da Vinci robotic systems, Stealth neuro-navigation technology, and Synthes/Stryker orthopedic instrumentation
• Respond to on-call requirements, including weekend call coverage from end of Friday shift through Monday morning, and participate in trauma activations as a Level I trauma center
• Float across multiple affiliated campuses as required to meet staffing needs
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly using EPIC electronic medical records

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of current operating room experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Demonstrated circulating experience in the operating room
• Experience in General surgery, da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases
• Trauma Level II experience or higher
• Scrubbing experience in orthopedic procedures
• EPIC EMR experience within the previous 3 years
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the previous 15 months (no first-time travelers)
• Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license at time of submission
• Active BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Scrub experience in the operating room (highly preferred)
• Experience in neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and vascular surgical cases
• Trauma Level I experience
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
