Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Expected 36 hours/week | Overtime may be available after 40 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct perioperative nursing care in a high-volume operating room environment averaging 35–50 cases per day across 16 OR suites, including active trauma suites reserved for Level I trauma cases
- Circulate and/or scrub across a broad range of service lines including cardiac/peripheral vascular, neurology, orthopedic trauma, robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, transplants, ENT, and plastics
- Operate and assist with specialized equipment including Da Vinci robotic systems, Stealth neuro-navigation technology, and Synthes/Stryker orthopedic trauma instrumentation
- Maintain efficient OR turnover times of less than 20 minutes between cases
- Participate in on-call coverage, including weekend call from end of shift Friday through 6:30 AM Monday
- Float across multiple campuses as needed and work 1–2 summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, or Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 24 months of current operating room experience (hospital/medical center experience prioritized)
- Circulating/operating room experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
- Experience in General surgery, Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases required; Trauma Level II experience required
- Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license at time of submission required
- Active BLS certification through AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) required
- EPIC EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the previous 9 months — first-time travelers are not eligible
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (verified by driver's license)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
- Experience in neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and vascular cases highly preferred
- Scrub experience highly preferred in addition to circulating
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred
