    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – Operating Room

    Location

    Baltimore, MD | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Days | Expected 40 hours/week | 2x12-hour shifts (7:00a–7:30p, varying Monday–Friday) and 2x8-hour shifts (7:00a–3:30p, every Saturday and Sunday) | On-call required based on unit needs | Onsite

    Key Responsibilities
    • Function as a member of the patient care team in a general operating room environment, providing safe, age-appropriate care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
    • Support an OR averaging approximately 40 cases per day across a broad range of surgical specialties including Trauma, ENT, Colorectal, Plastics, Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, Oral/Dental, Laparoscopic, Urology, Ophthalmology, GYN, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Robotics, Vascular, and Thoracic procedures
    • Respond to emergency OR situations and apply protocols for fire safety, malignant hyperthermia, and latex allergy precautions
    • Operate and maintain electrosurgical units, fiber-optic equipment, and Steris equipment
    • Serve as a resource for patients and families while supporting evidence-based care, minimally invasive techniques, surgical education, and interdisciplinary collaboration
    • Float within scope as needed to meet facility staffing needs
    Required Qualifications
    • Valid Maryland RN license or compact RN license required at time of submission
    • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience required
    • Level II trauma experience required
    • Proficiency in required case types: thoracic, ENT, endoscopic, general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and trauma
    • BLS required
    • 16-hour Maryland-approved trauma course required
    • 8 hours of annual trauma CEUs required
    • Every Saturday and Sunday availability required; select holidays (including alternating winter and summer holidays, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and other hard-to-fill days) are required with no time-off requests accepted on those dates
    • Local candidates are welcome
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Teaching hospital experience preferred
    • Level I trauma experience preferred
    • ACLS certification preferred
    • PALS certification preferred
