Key Responsibilities
Provide direct and safe patient care in the operating room across a range of surgical specialties including Orthopedic, General, Podiatry, GYN/OB (including C-Sections), Pain Management, Urology, and Endoscopy.
Apply and document the full nursing process — assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation — for surgical patients and their families.
Consult with physicians and clinical staff on nursing problems and interpretation of policies to ensure patient needs are met.
Practice the five rights of medication administration and demonstrate efficient time management to maximize patient care productivity.
Act as a patient advocate, respecting confidentiality and honoring patients' cultural and religious beliefs throughout the perioperative experience.
Participate in hospital and departmental quality improvement activities and maintain compliance with legal and organizational standards.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Mexico required.
BLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
ACLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
PALS certification required (American Heart Association only).
CPI certification required.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in an Operating Room or surgical nursing specialty.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Ability to speak additional languages is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and families of varying ages and cultural backgrounds.
