Hours per Shift: 10:45 - 12:45 (Day) and 21:15 - 23:15 (Night)
Experience: Minimum 3 years required
License: Must have an active Illinois license in hand or in the application process
Certifications: BLS required; CNOR preferred
Must-Have:
- General OR and trauma experience
- Cerner experience preferred
- Level I trauma experience required
- Experience with specified surgical procedures
Description:
This position requires a registered nurse specializing in the operating room.
Weekend coverage of 1 shift per month is required.
On-call duty is required, approximately once per week.
The clinician will float within their scope to meet facility needs but this is rare.
Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility.
All requested time off must be approved by management.
The client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without paying.
The nurse will work with all service lines except cardiovascular.
Required surgical experience includes:
- Bariatric laparoscopic assisted cases
- General Surgery: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple
- Client: Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion
- Orthopedics: Arthroscopy, Carpal Tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Open reduction of fractures
- Plastic Surgery: Free Flap - Microvascular
- Transplant: Organ donation
- Urology: Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy
- Trauma: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, Multiple Injuries
Emergency management experience is also necessary, including:
- Code response
- Fire safety
- Latex allergy
- Malignant hyperthermia
The position requires knowledge and skills in administering blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling and labeling, and the universal protocol procedure.
The facility is an acute care hospital and a Level I trauma center with a total of 562 staffed beds.
