It is equipped with a comprehensive stroke center and has a total of 794 beds. Unit Information: The unit consists of 28 beds, including 2 hybrid rooms for CV/Vascular cases. The average census is approximately 60-75 cases per day. Outpatient and inpatient cases, including trauma, are managed here. Common patient types and diagnoses include GSW, stabbings, transplants (kidney, heart), donor cases, general surgeries, GYN, urology, robotics, vascular, ortho, neuro, and open heart/CABG surgeries. The hybrid room manages between 5-10 cases daily, depending on the schedule. The patient population is predominantly adults. Pediatric cases represent approximately 20% of the workload, including open hearts, appendectomies, and cholecystectomies. Liver and lung transplants are not part of the services provided. Skills Required: Nursing staff should be able to scrub and circulate in the operating room. Critical care experience is preferred, along with trauma experience at a Level 1 or 2 facility. EPIC experience is required for all positions. Additional Support: The department includes charge nurses without patient assignments, as well as anesthesiologists for bedside monitoring. There are educators and service line representatives to support staff. A resource nurse is also available, along with an EPIC super-user. Technology/Equipment: The facility utilizes an EMR system and various medical equipment. There is a routine of scheduling that includes weekend rotations every fourth weekend. Shifts may vary with a rotational basis and the operating room is open year-round. Holiday coverage is required, and on-call responsibilities depend on shifts and service lines, with a 30-minute response time. Sleeping arrangements are available for on-call staff.
