Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to join our team in Hermiston, Oregon. This vital role focuses on providing comprehensive clinical education and instruction to staff, primarily clinical personnel, within our healthcare system. The educator serves as a key resource for all healthcare education and training programs, ensuring our staff are equipped with the latest technical and theoretical knowledge.
The Clinical Nurse Educator will be instrumental in supporting the development of educational initiatives in collaboration with department managers and clinical nurse coordinators. This position involves utilizing advanced simulation training techniques with mannequins and specialized software, and working closely with the Quality Management team to identify educational opportunities and foster continuous improvement across the system.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive clinical education and instruction to healthcare staff, with a primary focus on clinical personnel.
- Serve as an expert resource for all healthcare education and training programs.
- Introduce and teach technical and theoretical concepts using effective teaching techniques.
- Collaborate with department managers and clinical nurse coordinators to develop and implement educational programs.
- Utilize and become proficient in simulation training, including the use of mannequins and simulation software.
- Partner with the Quality Management team to identify educational needs and promote continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with Quality Department activities as requested.
- Evaluate educational programs and participant learning outcomes, making appropriate adjustments as needed.
- Prioritize and manage a variety of duties efficiently, adapting to changing tasks without loss of composure.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). (Consideration may be given for candidates with extensive experience and national certifications, with a commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of hire, subject to Vice President of Nursing approval).
- Minimum of five (5) years of hospital nursing experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of Operating Room (OR) experience.
- Proficiency in word processing and internet usage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.
- Experience in teaching, course development, and evaluating learning processes.
- Familiarity with various teaching theories and learning models.
- Experience utilizing simulation manikins and software for educational purposes.
- Prior experience as a Clinical Staff Educator.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in utilizing simulation training equipment and software.
- Strong understanding of basic computer network functions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Exceptional telephone etiquette.
- Ability to type accurately at a minimum speed of 45 words per minute.
- Strong command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and proofreading.
- Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems is helpful.
- Ability to develop and write clear, measurable educational objectives for healthcare employees.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and dependability.
- Ability to convey empathy and compassion in communication.
- Understanding of age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial patient care principles.
