Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Care

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for an Ambulatory Care setting in Bethel, Alaska. This role is integral to providing comprehensive patient care across the lifespan, from birth to elderly, within a collaborative healthcare environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full scope of the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. This position requires a commitment to quality, cost-effective, and efficient care delivery, ensuring optimal patient outcomes while upholding age-specific and cultural diversity considerations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient care through the systematic application of the nursing process.
  • Direct and coordinate nursing care for a diverse patient population.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Serve as a clinical resource person when situations require specialized knowledge.
  • Administer treatments and medications accurately and safely.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests and integrate findings into patient care plans.
  • Provide comprehensive patient, family, and significant other education.
  • Manage patient care across the continuum, ensuring continuity and coordination.
  • Document all aspects of care delivery thoroughly and accurately.
  • Supervise Unit Secretaries and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from a program of education in nursing approved by the National League for Nursing (NLN).
  • Ability to pass and maintain all required competencies for the position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience in a healthcare setting as a Registered Nurse.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in the nursing process and care management principles.
  • Basic EKG skills.
  • Proficiency with medical equipment relevant to ambulatory care (e.g., EKG, Cystoscopy).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to administer treatments, medications, and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment (computer, telephone, fax, copy machine).
  • Ability to manage care across the continuum.
  • Flexible work schedule and ability for independent actions within prescribed limits.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including mathematical aptitude for dosage calculations and data interpretation.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Effective presentation skills for communicating information to various audiences.
