Registered Nurse - Operating Room Circulator
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Operating Room Circulator Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment in Arcata, California. This role is integral to our surgical team, providing comprehensive nursing care and support throughout the perioperative phase within a dynamic operating room environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring patient safety, maintaining sterile fields, managing surgical equipment and supplies, and collaborating effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals. This position offers an opportunity to apply expert clinical skills while caring for a diverse surgical patient population.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee all nursing care activities in the operating room, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and adherence to sterile technique.
- Prepare the operating room with all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies prior to surgical procedures.
- Assist the surgical team with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping.
- Monitor the patient's physiological status throughout surgery, documenting vital signs and other pertinent data.
- Perform accurate sponge, sharp, and instrument counts with the scrub person.
- Facilitate effective communication among the surgical team members and other departments.
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and disposition of all surgical specimens.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and regulatory standards for patient care and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- TB clearance completed within the last 12 months.
