Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR RN) Job Summary

Join our dedicated team as an Operating Room Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, Maine. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care within the surgical setting, ensuring optimal outcomes for patients undergoing various procedures.

Working under the supervision of the Unit Director and Clinical Leader/Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care throughout the perioperative phase. This position requires a commitment to patient safety, teamwork, and adherence to hospital policies and nursing standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care functions in the Operating Room in accordance with the State of Maine Board of Nursing regulations and St. Joseph Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Assist in preparing the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
  • Monitor patient's vital signs and condition before, during, and after surgical procedures.
  • Maintain a sterile field and assist the surgical team as needed.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Respond to emergent situations and provide critical care interventions as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination status, as mandated by state regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Prior experience in Telemetry.
