This position as an Operating Room Registered Nurse involves initiating a plan of care based on identified medical, surgical, and nursing diagnoses. You will direct and coordinate with other departments and ancillary personnel to ensure a safe environment and high standard of quality care. Responsibilities include providing nursing care to surgery patients and supervising personnel in related activities. You will supervise care given to patients in a single Operating Room unit, ensuring patient safety, provision of supplies and equipment, and maintenance of asepsis. You will assess and monitor the physical status of patients. Collect and record necessary data through interviews, observations, and review of records. Utilize this information in planning and delivering patient care. Actively listen to patients, providing appropriate responses and determining their perceptions of needs related to surgical procedures. Identify interventions necessary for expected outcomes based on specific surgeries, illnesses, injuries, or diseases. Anticipate potential problems and adapt to surgical procedures. Set priorities in emergencies, changes in patient status, and unusual occurrences. Demonstrate competency in creating and maintaining a sterile field. Anticipate the need for equipment and supplies before each case begins. Demonstrate knowledge of expected outcomes of surgeries and anesthesia drugs. Evaluate nursing interventions in relation to established expected outcomes. Reassess patient status, identifying unresolved problems, and implement a revised plan of care through communication.
