First-time travelers are not accepted for this position. The role functions as charge nurse for the night shift, overseeing operations and scheduling cases. If no cases are scheduled, responsibilities include setting up rooms for the next day. The position emphasizes timely starts for first cases of the day. Charge nurse experience is not required, but candidates must be independent and knowledgeable in scheduling OR cases. Staff may be floated to other operating rooms, but this occurs infrequently. Hard stops include robotics, general surgery, urology, gynecology, bariatrics, minor vascular, plastics, and thoracic cases. Candidates must have prior experience handling thoracic and vascular cases independently. Call is not required for night shift roles, but on weekends, call coverage may be necessary based on department needs. The position requires working three weekend and three weeknight shifts every six weeks. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities. Failure to float when required may result in termination of contract. Reference checks will be conducted prior to start. Two references covering the last year are necessary. Inflexibility beyond the contracted schedule could lead to contract termination.
