Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) Job Summary

Join Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation, a JCAHO accredited facility located in Tuba City, Arizona. This 73-bed facility offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency care, dental, ophthalmology, orthopedics, OB/GYN, oral surgery, eye surgery, and urological procedures. Approximately 49% of all surgeries performed are outpatient/ambulatory, reflecting a dynamic and varied surgical environment.

As an Operating Room Registered Nurse, you will be an integral part of the perioperative team, providing high-quality patient care through the application of the nursing process. This role involves circulating across a wide range of surgical specialties, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply the nursing process, including assessment, formulation of nursing diagnoses, planning interventions, and evaluation of patient outcomes for perioperative patients.
  • Circulate in all Operating Room specialty areas, which may include Orthopedics, ENT, GYN/OB, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Dental procedures.
  • Prepare for and respond to emergency cases on very short notice, demonstrating adaptability and critical thinking.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience, with a preference for Operating Room practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Scrubbing experience in an Operating Room setting.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation).
  • Ability to circulate effectively across diverse surgical specialties (Orthopedics, ENT, GYN/OB, General, Ophthalmology, Dental).
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to respond quickly and efficiently to emergency cases.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Shift Details
  • Shift Type: AM
  • Hours: 12-hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Days per Week: 3 days per week
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

  • Call Requirements: Required to work varied and irregular hours when on call, including preparing for emergency cases with short notice.

Licensing Requirements
  • Valid, current, full, and unrestricted Professional Nursing License to practice nursing in any state of the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. (Note: An Arizona state license is not required).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within six (6) months of hire.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) by the Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI) within one (1) year of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification within two (2) years of hire.
