Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join a dynamic surgical team in Cleveland, Ohio. The successful candidate will provide expert nursing care to a diverse patient population undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures.
This role involves actively participating in all phases of the surgical process, ensuring patient safety, advocating for patient needs, and collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary surgical team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a circulating and/or scrub nurse for various surgical specialties.
- Manage patient care during the intraoperative phase, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Prepare the operating room with all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Maintain a sterile field and adhere strictly to AORN standards and facility policies.
- Assist the surgical team with patient positioning, prepping, and draping.
- Document all aspects of nursing care accurately and thoroughly.
- Participate in time-out procedures and ensure correct patient, procedure, and site.
- Provide support and education to patients and their families as needed.
- Service lines include: General Surgery, Gynecology (GYN), Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), Plastics, Vascular, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Pediatrics, Thoracic, and Robotics.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care Operating Room (OR) experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a Level I trauma center setting.
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in surgical scrubbing and circulating techniques.
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique and sterile processing.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with surgical teams, patients, and families.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, specifically Epic.
- Experience with Pyxis automated dispensing systems.
- Proficiency with Vocera communication systems.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook.

- Shift Type: Day Shift (AM)
- Hours: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Days per Week: 3 days per week
- Contract Length: 13 weeks

Licensing Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
