The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting their own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care using the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care and mentoring or precepting staff. Responsibilities include performing assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. The RN initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care, and reviews and revises the plan as indicated. The RN collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services, utilizing resources appropriately to support the needs of the patient and family. The RN monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions. The RN facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs. The RN delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. The RN functions as a mentor and preceptor, demonstrating and encouraging teamwork. The RN identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement. The RN participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes. The RN complies with regulatory standards and participates in the Practice Governance model.
