Description:
This position involves providing care in a surgical setting.
The role includes working with limited pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
Key areas of focus include orthopedic surgeries, podiatry, hand surgery, spine and cranial procedures, general surgery, and urology.
The nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of patient situations.
Responsibilities include providing both routine and complex care while managing clinical contingencies.
The nurse makes appropriate assignments and delegates tasks to other care providers as necessary.
Responsibilities align with applicable nursing competencies.
The nurse utilizes the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation, for assigned patients.
The nurse addresses the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
Medications and treatments are administered following appropriate protocols while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
Documentation of patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided is required.
The nurse assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers, identifying issues and resources.
There is an on-call requirement of 1-2 times per week and every third weekend.
The nurse may float to different surgical areas as needed.
The nurse/patient ratio is 1:1.
