Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment at York Hospital in York, Maine. This role is integral to our surgical team, providing specialized care to patients undergoing various procedures.

The successful candidate will primarily focus on orthopedic surgical cases, performing both circulating and scrub nurse duties. This is an excellent opportunity for an RN with a strong background in orthopedic surgery to contribute to a dedicated healthcare team in a community hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the operating room, specializing in orthopedic procedures.
  • Perform circulating nurse duties, including patient advocacy, documentation, and ensuring a safe surgical environment.
  • Execute scrub nurse responsibilities, maintaining sterile technique, preparing instruments, and assisting surgeons directly.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor patient's physiological status throughout the surgical procedure and respond to changes appropriately.
  • Ensure adherence to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in pre-operative preparation and post-operative care coordination as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine or compact state eligibility.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent, dedicated Operating Room (OR) experience.
  • Demonstrated strong and specific experience in Orthopedic surgical cases.
  • Proficiency in both circulating and scrub nurse roles within the OR.
