Registered Nurse – Oncology (Med/Surg Oncology)

Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 17-bed Med/Surg Oncology unit, primarily serving oncology patients with potential overflow med/surg patients
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:5, or 1:4 when a patient is receiving chemotherapy; nurses are not required to administer chemotherapy
- Monitor and interpret telemetry via portable tele box as needed; must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythms and will be required to pass a dysrhythmia exam
- Collaborate with a clinical supervisor (non-patient assignment) who provides break relief, a nurse aide (8-hour day coverage), and 24/7 hospitalist, RT, and pharmacy support
- Fulfill weekend requirements of 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule and participate in the holiday rotation alongside permanent staff
- Float as needed to telemetry (1:4 ratio) or other med/surg floors
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in California
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Med/Surg Oncology
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms; must pass an on-site dysrhythmia exam
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience floating to telemetry units
- Familiarity with oncology patient populations and comfort working in a mixed oncology/med/surg environment
- Strong team-player mindset with demonstrated adaptability in fast-paced settings
