Key Responsibilities
Independently administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormonal and non-hormonal injections in accordance with provider orders
Access and maintain port-a-caths, PICCs, and Hickman catheters; perform venipuncture, dressing changes, and lab draws via central access devices
Monitor and maintain accurate records of intravenous therapies and patient responses to treatment; document patient condition, medications, and care in a concise and complete manner
Notify the Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner of unusual occurrences and initiate appropriate emergency action when necessary
Verify informed consent prior to administering chemotherapy and demonstrate proper handling, administration, and disposal of hazardous drugs with appropriate PPE
Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding medications, treatments, expected responses, side effects, disease process, nutrition, and activity adjustments
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Oncology nursing experience including chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration
Demonstrated knowledge of hazardous drug handling, administration, disposal, and proper PPE usage
Proficiency in Epic EMR
Preferred Experience / Skills
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Chemotherapy Biotherapy certification
Experience with central venous access devices including port-a-caths, PICCs, and Hickman catheters
Experience in an outpatient oncology or infusion center setting
