Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 36-bed Post-Op/Oncology/Telemetry unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6
- Care for general MedSurg and post-operative patients (e.g., laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendectomy) as well as oncology patients presenting with complications such as neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, and infections
- Monitor and manage patients with chest tubes, including experience with PleurX chest tubes for patients being discharged home
- Read and interpret telemetry strips independently using Phillips monitors, in coordination with the hospital's central monitor tech
- Titrate Heparin drips as needed; manage CPAP and BiPAP patients in collaboration with Respiratory Therapy
- Participate in weekend rotation (every other weekend, Saturday/Sunday) and hospital holiday rotation alongside permanent staff
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered RN license valid in West Virginia
- Current BLS certification required
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry/cardiac monitor strips
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- No artificial/false nails permitted per unit policy
- A copy of a valid, unexpired driver's license must be submitted with all applications
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy certification is a strong plus
- Experience with PleurX chest tube management highly preferred
- Prior experience caring for oncology patients, including those on neutropenic precautions
- Familiarity with MedSurg/Telemetry float assignments
