Description: The Clienttion Oncology Nurse is a registered nurse who functions in a collaborative role with the Clienttion Oncology Team in providing continuity and quality patient care. The nurse will assess and provide appropriate nursing interventions for the actual or potential problems that the patient may experience related to the disease process, treatment course, and follow-up period. This role emphasizes teaching, counseling, and supportive functions needed to assist the patient and/or family to cope with and adjust to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The RN assists in the evaluation and examination of patients with the Clienttion Oncologist. This person acts as the liaison between Clienttion Oncology and other departments as well as physician groups/offices and other counseling/support groups. In this setting, the Clienttion Oncology Nurse will assess and provide appropriate referrals for resources related to recovery, rehabilitation, nursing home care, hospice, and nutritional services. The nurse must be able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinic environment. They must have the ability to communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team with written and verbal proficiency. The role requires coordinating oncology patient care with other interdisciplinary staff. Flexibility and strong organizational skills are essential. Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients of varying age groups and cultural backgrounds are required. Candidates must possess knowledge of chronic illness and comorbidity management. Current knowledge of the latest trends, skills, procedures, and protocols in hematology/oncology and internal medicine practice is necessary. Understanding of evidence-based oncology, immunology, pharmacology, community health, and cultural sensitivity information is essential.
