Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering. The RN is accountable for providing high-quality patient care in accordance with nursing standards and regulatory requirements. Job Responsibilities

• Conducts assessments, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients, serving as the primary or accountable nurse as designated.
• Educates patients and their families on health promotion and disease management using available resources.
• Administers medications safely and in accordance with organizational policy, utilizing a working knowledge of pharmacology.
• Contributes to effective resource utilization including staffing, time management, and the management of supplies and services.
• Adheres to all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
• Participates in Nursing Shared Governance by supporting Unit Council initiatives and contributing to quality improvement efforts.
• Engages in professional development and continuing education, completing all mandatory educational requirements.
• Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice to enhance patient care.
• Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and nursing students.
• Follows the values of the organization and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) of six (6) months to three (3) years.
• Management experience of up to three (3) years.
• Five or more years of direct nursing experience.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills (verbal & written).
• Demonstrated judgment and critical thinking abilities.
• Effective organizational understanding and planning skills.
• Proficient problem-solving skills focused on quality and patient safety.
• Reliable and committed to safety and risk management practices.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

Education

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association, Health & Safety Institute, or American Red Cross).
• Unit-specific requirements as outlined in the Compliance Matrix, to be validated prior to application.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure

• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Relevant skills certification (such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by the assigned unit.

Schedule Notes

Position requires working 12-hour night shifts (7 pm - 7 am), with an average of 36 hours per week and every other weekend. Experience in medical-surgical and telemetry settings is required. Chemo administration experience is highly preferred, but not mandatory.
