Job Title: RN Oncology Infusion Clinic Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Adult Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required. License: Current RN License. Certifications: - Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association. - ACLS (American Heart Association). - Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). - ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). Must-Have: - Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. - Good verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues. - Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients. - Some computer skills. Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Administers oral, subcutaneous injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by the physician. Consults with other medical personnel and provides expert information about chemotherapy, side effects, etc. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notates all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physician during conscious sedation procedures and in performing minor diagnostic treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observing manifestations and intervening when necessary. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with patients and families to share care plans during clinic visits and time of discharge. Informs patients and families of clinic procedures. Provides chemotherapy-related educational information to patients and families. Answers inquiries and provides guidance as appropriate. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Schedules patient follow-up activities related to treatment and assists with care coordination. Performs other duties as assigned.
