Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Acute Leukemia and Hematology – Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; schedule varies based on unit needs and is reviewed every 4-week period. Shift assignments may include days, nights, or a combination of both. Weekend coverage variable based on staffing requirements.
Highlights:
- Specialized acute leukemia and hematology unit caring for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
- High-acuity medical unit with focus on blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
- Goal staffing ratio of 1:4, may flex to 1:5 based on census
- EPIC electronic charting system
- 72-hour orientation provided to support successful transition
- Interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and social services
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety initiatives
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of overall nursing experience required
- Must have current medical-surgical oncology experience and at least 1 year of inpatient hematology-oncology experience
- Acute care experience must be current and consistent within the last 12 months in the specialty
- Previous travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers not eligible)
- Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification
- Certifications Preferred: NIHSS
- Experience with leukemia/blood dyscrasias is mandatory
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line management, PICC line care, and starting IVs
- EPIC charting experience required
- Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- 2 professional references required: at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role

Additional Information:
Candidates must be available to complete all compliance requirements by the Tuesday prior to start date. Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing. May float to other medical-surgical oncology units as needed. One pre-approved time-off request permitted during contract. Former employees eligible after 6 months away from the facility. Current employees are not eligible for travel positions.
