Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Chemo Certified Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 1 Year License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BLS; ONS/ONCC Certifications Required Must-Have: Epic charting experience required Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse specialized in Oncology care. This position involves working in an outpatient oncology unit with an average daily census of 25 patients. The nurse will administer IV chemotherapy and provide care for various cancer diagnoses, including breast, lung, and colorectal cancers. The patient age group includes adults and geriatrics. Staffing ratios are 1:5, ensuring focused patient care and support. The nurse will operate within a medication system and use Epic documentation for patient records. Required skills also include accessing and managing ports, administering blood products, and providing patient and family education. Special procedures performed will include implanted port care, foley catheter management, and peripheral IV insertion. The nurse will coordinate care and recognize or communicate abnormal lab values as part of their responsibilities. Collaboration with interdisciplinary support teams, including pharmacy and social services, is expected. The position requires familiarity with the monitoring and administration of chemotherapy, as well as IV therapy and infusions. Psychosocial care skills, including patient and family support, are essential for success in this role.
