Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Oncology OP Duration: 10-week contract Shift: Days Hours per Shift: Either 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Experience: One (1) year of nursing experience required, oncology and outpatient experience required License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers, ONS certified in ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy required Must-Have: - Clinical nursing care experience - Patient assessment and education skills Description: The Clinical Nurse provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. This role is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. The Clinical Nurse participates in identifying and meeting the learning needs of self. Attendance at education programs based on identified learning needs is expected. With assistance, the Clinical Nurse will use patient education materials relevant to the patient population. They will assess the readiness to learn of patients, families, and caregivers. Evaluation of care includes identifying expected patient outcomes. Guidance is sought as needed in the revision of the plan of care. Participation in discussions with interdisciplinary team members is critical for evaluation of patient care. Effective communication of relevant information promotes continuity of care. Demonstrating competence in care for patients with complex problems is essential. This includes addressing population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care. The Clinical Nurse will perform bedside point-of-care testing as required by the patient care plan. Utilizing healthcare standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care is expected. Organizing and prioritizing care according to patient and family needs is essential. Consultation with appropriate resources is required for patients with complex care issues. Leadership responsibilities include developing goals to promote professional growth and minimize limitations. Meeting identified goals and objectives within a designated time frame is a requirement. Knowledge of activities that facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration is necessary. The Clinical Nurse will participate in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities. Effective use of communication systems is essential. Participation in promoting cost-effective care is expected. Providing feedback to co-workers is part of the role. Awareness of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment is necessary. Promoting a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all is essential. Recognizing data from complex situations helps to determine priorities for care. Assessment includes physical, psychosocial, education, and safety needs. Synthesizing assessment data into a meaningful whole prior to communication is a requirement. Assessment of discharge needs for individual patients and families is necessary. Developing relationships with families promotes their ability to advocate for the patient and for their own needs.
