Job Title: Nurse Navigator Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience required License: Must have DC license in hand Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Experience in care and management of ports, central line/implanted line care, starting IVs, and oncology nursing. Description: The Nurse Navigator provides essential support and care for patients in the oncology setting. This role primarily focuses on adults diagnosed with cancer. Nurse navigators educate patients on their treatment options and address their social needs. Wound care and skincare for patients undergoing radiation therapy is a key responsibility. The Nurse Navigator assesses signs or symptoms that may need further consultation with healthcare professionals. This position includes chart preparation, disability form processing, and telephone triage. Experience with Cerner charting is required. Nurse navigators play a vital role in managing patient appointments and coordinating care. The role encompasses both the clinic aspect of patient interaction and direct patient care. Assisting with the assessment of radiation toxicity is also part of the responsibilities. Candidates should have a strong background in oncology nursing and experience with patient care coordination.
