Job Opportunity – Acute Leukemia and Hematology RN – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (D/N rotation based on departmental needs; shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period). Weekend coverage variable based on unit needs. Float to other Medical/Surgical Oncology units as needed.

Highlights:

  • Specialty focus on acute leukemia population, primarily newly diagnosed patients
  • Medical unit with high volume of blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
  • Goal staffing ratio of 1:4, may occasionally reach 1:5
  • 24-bed unit with daily census of approximately 22 patients
  • Epic charting system; GE telemetry monitoring
  • 72-hour orientation provided; oncology experience preferred but not required
  • No chemotherapy certification required for this position
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience (must be current and consistent within the last 12 months)
  • At least 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown) experience required
  • Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license in hand at time of application)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • ONS Chemotherapy Certification preferred
  • Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Demonstrated skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral/central line care
  • Experience with feeding tube care and management, and use of Rapid Response Teams
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
