Job Summary:
The organization is seeking an Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract position on the Medical Surgical Oncology (MS ONC) Floor in Wausau, Wisconsin. This night shift role involves providing specialized care to surgical and medical oncology patients in a fast-paced unit. The position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced nurses to contribute to patient care within a dedicated oncology setting.
Job Details:
- Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Wisconsin RN License and BLS certification; minimum of 2+ years of nursing experience with at least 1 year on a Medical Surgical Oncology unit; oncology experience required; Epic electronic charting experience preferred, or previous electronic charting experience necessary; Chemo certification required; associate degree or certificate required; Bachelors degree preferred.

- Contract duration: 13 weeks, starting 08/24/2026
- Guaranteed hours per week: 36
- Shift requires working every other weekend and holiday
- Will float as needed to other areas within scope, can float in 4-hour blocks and before staff RNs
- Night shift patient ratio ranges from 5:1 up to 7:1, always with tech support and scheduled C.NAs
- Unit workload primarily involves surgical and medical oncology patients, with a small population receiving chemotherapy treatments
- Equipment used includes Epic EMR, rovers for medication scanning, and Alaris pumps
- When scheduled for holidays, staff will rotate every other holiday
