Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Rotating Shifts Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in acute care License: RN License (CO or Compact) Certifications: BLS, Chemo certification preferred (not required) Must-Have: Oncology skills checklist required Experience with flexible staffing ratios Description: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of experience in acute care. Prior experience in oncology nursing is highly desirable. Floating between like units and potentially to sister facilities may be required based on unit needs. Candidates must be comfortable working in environments with flexible nurse-to-patient ratios. Shifts will be rotating, including weekends as per unit needs. Weekend coverage will be expected based on staffing demands. The position requires proficiency in accessing and managing ports, administration of chemotherapy, and care for oncology patients. Experience with charting systems, particularly Epic, is required. Candidates must be skilled in handling various patient care scenarios related to oncology nursing. The workload may include administration of blood products, management of chemotherapy side effects, and wound care. Candidates should exhibit strong critical thinking skills and be able to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient care. Effective communication with patients and families about treatment options and care plans will be essential.
