Certification in Basic Life Support is required. The role does not require on-call duty. Travelers may need to float to meet facility needs and could be assigned to similar units based on requirements. The unit consists of 36 staffed beds. Charting is done using a specific electronic health record system. Nurse-to-patient ratios may vary based on staffing and unit needs. Candidates must be comfortable in environments with flexible staffing ratios. Scrub colors are navy. Special requirements include teaching hospital experience. The unit primarily cares for patients with known cancer diagnoses requiring surgical interventions. Nursing staff will assist patients in achieving specific post-operative milestones for discharge.
