Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years of Oncology Experience Required License: License Required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Previous Charge Experience and Teaching Client Experience Preferred Description: The role involves providing care for patients in the neuro oncology unit. The nurse will be responsible for administering inpatient chemotherapy regimens. The position requires managing a patient ratio of 1:5. Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required. Weekend shifts of 8 within a 6-week schedule period are required. The nurse will perform various nursing skills including IV Therapy and infusion administration. Experience in managing symptoms related to oncologic emergencies is required. Candidates will provide psychosocial support and patient/family education. The role includes working with a diverse population of patients with various types of cancer. Familiarity with advanced procedures such as tracheostomy care and pain management is preferred. The nurse will participate in post-surgical care for patients in the uro-gyn and gyn-onc population. Support staff includes interdisciplinary teams such as pharmacy, physical therapy, and social services. Compliance with safety precautions and protocols is mandatory in this unit. The nurse will need to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values. Overall, the role is crucial for the delivery of effective patient-centered care.
