Description:
The role requires a registered nurse specializing in medical surgical oncology.
The nurse will provide care to patients with solid tumors, including lung, breast, and pancreatic cancers.
Experience in bone marrow transplantation and chemotherapy is preferred.
The nurse will work with a patient ratio of 1:4-5, with 1:3 for bone marrow transplant.
First-time travelers are accepted for this position.
Weekend shifts are required every other week.
On-call duties are not required.
The nurse will float within the service line based on facility needs.
This position does not accommodate block scheduling.
Local candidates are not accepted within a 75-mile radius.
Pending licenses are accepted for submission.
Time off requests cannot exceed 7 days during the 13-week contract.
Special skills include accessing and managing ports, administration of blood products, and phlebotomy.
Additional responsibilities include IV starts and central line care.
The average patient stay is 3-5 days.
The facility is a Magnet and teaching hospital, Level I trauma center.
Daily patient census is approximately 32.
Interdisciplinary support is available, including pharmacy and rapid response teams.
Candidates must have strong communication and critical thinking skills.
