Experience in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) oncology is required. Candidates must be able to interpret and manage dysrhythmias. Floating to other areas within the oncology department is required as needed. The nurse will work within a staff-to-patient ratio of 4:1 for all shifts. The average daily census is 30 patients across 32 beds. Candidates must have certification in chemotherapy administration. Every other weekend is required. Interdisciplinary support services include IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy among others. Nurses will be caring for patients with various diagnoses including leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Special procedures include administering chemotherapy and performing auto stem cell transplants. Experience in patient education and managing complications related to blood cancers is essential. All requirements must be completed before starting the assignment.
