Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Medical Surgical Oncology Nurse for an assignment at an LTAC Oncology unit located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This role involves interpreting the plan of medical care, assessing patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, ensuring safe and competent nursing practices, providing individualized patient care, and evaluating nursing outcomes. The position requires working every other weekend and holidays, focusing on patients receiving chemotherapy and diagnosis management.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), at least 1 year of nursing experience in medical-surgical or oncology settings, and current knowledge of chemotherapy and diagnosis management protocols
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in an LTAC oncology unit, familiarity with oncology treatments and medications, and strong patient assessment skills
  • Additional Information: The role involves maintaining detailed reports and records, administering medications, monitoring patient responses, recording vital signs, reporting symptoms or changes in conditions, and collaborating with healthcare team members to develop or modify patient care plans.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required.
