TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Oncology RN in Bismarck, North Dakota, 58501!

Job Title: Medsurg/Onc RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medsurg/Oncology Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 48 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: License required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - Experience with trach and BiPAP preferred, but not required. - Experience in titrating drips. Description: Core staff will administer chemotherapy. There is no oncology provider in-house on the current day. The department has a total of 31 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night. Common diagnoses and types of patients include adults and geriatrics with strokes, hypertension, COPD, cellulitis, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, chest pain, myocardial infarction, altered mental status, behavioral issues, surgical overflow (excluding joints and cranial cases). Nurses will be responsible for titrating drips, including Lasix and Heparin. There is a charge nurse on each shift to serve as a resource. Nursing assistants and patient care techs are available on the unit with a ratio of 1:8. Registered nurses will troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as BiPAP, with stable cases and established trachs receiving blow-by oxygen. There are telemetry/monitor techs on the unit, and registered nurses are not required to read and interpret their own strips. Shifts run from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730. Management will make the schedule and may consider block scheduling to meet unit needs. Weekends will be required every other week, and holidays are as needed. There is no on-call or standby requirement. Floating to other Medsurg units may occur, but if floating to telemetry units, a tele RN will monitor the strips. The unit has a great culture and teamwork environment. Travelers are encouraged to feel supported and part of the team. Candidates must adhere to the radius rule and are not permitted to be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facilities. Requests for time off must be made upfront and will not be approved after submissions. The charting system used is EPIC.
