Must-Have:
1 year of experience required with 1 travel assignment.
No first-time travelers.
Description:
Unit consists of 29 beds.
Travelers will work on the oncology floor and outpatient area.
Ratios are typically 1:5, with occasional 1:6.
Charge nurses operate outside of the staffing grid unless unusual circumstances arise.
There are generally 3 nurse aides per day.
Weekend requirement is every other weekend, and holidays rotate with staff.
Scrub color is Caribbean Blue.
Central monitoring is available, but reading strips is not required.
Floating is rarely required to medical acute.
Floor-specific orientation is provided for 3 days.
Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology issues, medical overflow, end-of-life care.
Outpatient area patients may come to the floor to complete treatment if delays occur.
Charting system used is MEDITECH.
BSN is not required.
