Description:
This is a surgical oncology nurse position.
The unit has a total of 30 beds.
There are 48 staff members, including nurses, patient care technicians, and health unit coordinators.
Day shift staffing includes one clinical nurse coordinator, five to six RNs, and two patient care technicians.
Night shift staffing mirrors the day shift.
The estimated patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:5 to 1:6.
Key equipment utilized includes Baxter pumps, sequential compression devices, Mobilab units, and glucometers.
The electronic medical record system in use is Meditech.
Candidates must have strong communication skills and the ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy in patient care.
Experience with IV insertion and chemotherapy administration is preferred.
Common procedures performed in this unit include medication administration, chest tube management, nasogastric tube management, and Foley catheter management.
The ideal candidate will be a team player.
Adherence to attendance policy is required.
Weekend shifts are expected, with a schedule of every other weekend or four weekend shifts per month.
