Job Title: Registered Nurse - Obstetrics Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Obstetrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP Must-Have: Labor, Delivery, Postpartum, and care of Newborns (Level 1 and Level 2 nursery) Description: This position involves providing care during OB triage, labor, delivery, postpartum, and for well-newborn and special care nursery. The role includes performing IV administration, antibiotics, and short-term respiratory support such as CPAP or oxygen. The nurse will utilize computerized charting with EPIC and OBIX for fetal monitor strips. An Acudose med dispensing cabinet will be used for medication management. Interpretation of fetal monitor strips and attendance at vaginal deliveries are required. Immediate care and resuscitation of newborns must be within the scope of the role. The schedule includes 8 or 12-hour shifts during the week, with weekend work required 2 out of 3 weekends. There will be two OB trained staff members in-house at all times. The nurse will primarily work in women's healthcare and may float to general medical units if census is low. This department has a 12-bed capacity with specific room allocations for labor, delivery, and postpartum care. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2-3 for mom/baby couplets, 1:2 for early labor, 1:1 for active labor, and 1:3 for post-operative care. All nurses must adhere to the hospital dress code, which includes wearing hospital-washed scrubs. Training will include a new hire safety program checklist covering emergency management cases and competency skills for equipment. This position requires working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating effectively with the healthcare team, and providing exceptional patient care.
