Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) specializes in providing high-level critical care to premature and ill neonates. This position involves caring for neonates, infants, and surgical patients aged 23 weeks and up within a high-acuity environment. The role requires a dedicated healthcare professional prepared to manage complex respiratory support, perform advanced procedures, and coordinate comprehensive patient care.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 3 x 12-hour night shifts, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: California license; BLS certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); 1 year of experience in neonatal intensive care, including experience with Neonates less than 28 weeks gestation; proficiency with NICU III and IV protocols, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), and clinical procedures such as line insertions (PICC and umbilical), bronchoscopy, swallow studies, and MRI.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with neonatal dysrhythmia management, arterial and central line care, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and advanced neonatal procedures.
  • Certifications: Valid AHA or ARC certifications.
  • Additional Information:
    • Care for a daily census of approximately 23 neonates, infants, and surgical patients.
    • Unit supports interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and social services.
    • Specific patient diagnoses include surgical cases, neonatal cooling, and respiratory management using all modes of respiratory support.
    • Special procedures performed include PICC lines, bronchoscopy, LISA, VCUG, MRI, and swallow studies.
    • Equipment used includes jet ventilators, high flow, CPAP, vent, and ostomy care.
    • Requires float to pediatric, NICU, and nursery units.
    • Onboarding includes completion of labs within 3-5 days of contract signing, with a 7-year work history verification.
    • Candidates should be prepared for a maximum of one holiday request per contract and adhere to specified RTO policies.
