Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
  • At least 1 year of NICU, pediatric ICU, or high-acuity acute care nursing experience required
  • BLS and NRP certification required
  • Experience caring for micro preemies and complex neonatal patients preferred
  • Comfort titrating medications and following provider orders for drips such as fentanyl, morphine, and precedex
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Level III NICU with a collaborative team approach
  • Willingness to comply with unit-specific screening and submission requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled nursing care to critically ill neonates in a Level III NICU
  • Monitor and assess newborns with complex diagnoses, including prematurity, abdominal defects, PPHN, CDH, and congenital conditions
  • Administer medications and titratable drips per orders while maintaining close patient surveillance
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, APNs, residents, fellows, and charge staff to support safe patient care
  • Manage care for patients requiring advanced respiratory support, including ventilators, CPAP, high flow, and oscillator or JET ventilation
  • Support family-centered care in a unit with private rooms and a highly coordinated clinical team
  • Float as needed within related pediatric and nursery areas based on facility needs
  • Maintain professional standards, follow unit policies, and contribute to a safe, compassionate environment for patients and families
