Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of NICU experience, including travel experience preferred.

Position Description:
Unit notes specify that the NICU is a Level 3b unit with 16 beds, soon increasing to 20 beds. Certification requirements include BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). The patient-to-nurse ratios are 1-to-1 or 1-to-3 if feeder/growers. EMR system is Cerner. Charge nurse is present. No nurse aides are utilized. The unit handles all gestational ages, with a requirement for experience in Level 3 NICU care and being able to attend deliveries, with preference for Spanish-speaking nurses. The unit manages premies, sepsis, cooling therapy, and substance withdrawal. The NICU operates 12-hour shifts from 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am, with a minimum of 36 hours per week, and every other weekend requirement. The unit may require float to labor & delivery or postpartum units to care for babies. Orientation involves 2-3 shifts. Common diagnoses include prematurity, sepsis, and cooling therapy.

Additional Information:
The hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. The unit utilizes Cerner charting. Spanish-speaking candidates are preferred.
