Position Overview
Children’s Wisconsin – Fox Valley Campus is seeking an experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse for a 6-week travel assignment in Neenah, WI. This opportunity is ideal for a compassionate, skilled, and adaptable RN with strong Level III or Level IV NICU experience who can provide high-quality care to critically ill and premature newborns.
The unit is a Level III NICU with 22 beds, offering an opportunity to work in a specialized neonatal care environment. Candidates should be resilient, collaborative, and comfortable adapting to changing patient needs, including floating to the pediatric (Peds) unit as census requires.
Assignment Details
- Contract: 6 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratio: 1:2 or 1:3, depending on patient acuity
- Floating: Required to the pediatric unit as census dictates
- On-Call: None for regularly scheduled shifts
- Extra Shifts: Additional shifts may be subject to call or cancellation
- Weekends: Rotating every third weekend, depending on requested time off
- Holidays: As scheduled, outside of approved requested time off
- Charting: EPIC preferred
- Scrubs: Any professional scrubs
Required Qualifications
- Current Wisconsin RN license or an eligible compact-state RN license.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.
- Minimum of 3 years of Level III or Level IV NICU experience required.
- Pediatric (Peds) nursing experience preferred.
- Ability to float to the pediatric unit as needed.
- Strong neonatal assessment, critical-thinking, and patient-care skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill and premature newborns in a Level III NICU.
- Monitor neonatal patients and respond promptly to changes in clinical condition.
- Maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios based on acuity and unit needs.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Support neonatal stabilization and resuscitation as appropriate to the role.
- Float to the pediatric unit when required by census.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow established patient safety protocols.
